Cláudia holds a PhD in Citizenship and Human Rights from the University of Barcelona, where she researched the securitisation of protest in Portugal and Spain. Her research focuses on protest and protest policing, fundamental rights, populism, and the quality of democracy. She is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Sutherland School of Law, University College Dublin, and has conducted research at leading institutions, including the Barcelona Institute of International Studies and the University of the Andes. She has authored and co-authored scientific articles and public policy reports, and has participated in international projects on democracy and authoritarianism, rights fruition, and social mobilisation.
