Dr. Fırat Akova is a philosopher who is a Recruiter at Coefficient Giving to reduce global catastrophic risks, particularly from AI.

He was previously a Summer Fellow at the Centre for the Governance of
AI and researched AI-enabled extreme power concentration. Before that,
he was a Research Associate at Future Impact Group, working with
researchers from New York University to prepare a code of practice for
research on AI sentience and consciousness. Earlier, he joined Power
for Democracies as a Senior Research Fellow and developed a
prioritisation framework identifying the most effective democracy
organisations worldwide for multi-million-dollar funding. He was also
selected as a Global Priorities Fellow at the University of Oxford's
Global Priorities Institute and the Forethought Foundation for Global
Priorities Research, and worked on the political representation of
future generations and on AI sentience.

He founded and directed Effective Altruism Türkiye. He was a Lecturer
in the Department of Philosophy at Koç University. He holds a PhD in
Philosophy from the University of Warwick, with a thesis on effective
altruism.
