Our process for the Effectively Countering Authoritarian Playbooks project
The project identified and recommended high-impact civil society initiatives to donors that counter authoritarian threats around the world.
Power for Democracies built an iterative research process that prioritised countries, authoritarian moves, and pro-democracy tactics using a framework assessing importance, tractability, neglectedness, and opportunity.
We combined quantitative and qualitative analysis, literature reviews, expert interviews, theory-of-change modelling, and structured decision-making methods to identify the most promising initiatives for funding.
